Zusammenfassung: | The Bechar Basin of Permo-Carboniferous age is situated to the south of the variscan orogenic belt of North Africa. It is a typical foreland basin of great depth: 10,000 m of carboniferous sediments alone. Its present-day shape is triangular; it is markedly dissymmetric and shows the effects of decreasing lithospheric flexure. The sedimentary in fill starts with turtidites and ends with molasses. Flat, south wardmigrating shear-planes are also present. |
