Zusammenfassung:M. edulis from San Diego bay, Monterey bay, Puget Sound, Auke bay, and Kodiak harbour were analysed to obtain tributyltin tissue concentrations by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometry (GFAAS) and by gas chromatography coupled with an atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Results from the two methods were not significantly different. Concentrations were 0.005-1.08 ug tributyltin per g wet tissue weight. Differences in concentrations in mussels sampled in Puget Sound in June 1986 and March 1987 were possibly due to boats being painted with antifoulants and launched during the spring.
