Zusammenfassung:	Epimastigotes of Trypanosoma cruzi were grown in absence of certain amino acids, which are labile to extreme values of pH. The growth and metacyclogenesis in these media were lesser than the control. When the epimastigotes of T. cruzi were grown in a medium without methionine, the growth was similar to the control, but the differentiation into metacyclic forms was significantly lesser than control. The influence of the amino acids studied in the growth and differentiation of T. cruzi is discussed.
