Zusammenfassung: | Infection of the gastrointestinal tract with Isospora belli is a cause of chronic diarrhea in patients with the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Such infection usually responds to therapy with trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, and recurrence can be prevented by ongoing maintenance therapy.
