The marine biocide tributyltin: Assessing and managing the environmental risks

The use of n-tributyltin (TBT), a tri-organotin, to control the attachment and growth of organisms such as tube worms, barnacles and mussels on the hulls of vessels, is reviewed. Toxicity data and EPA regulations on the use of TBT for these purposes are discussed.
