Zusammenfassung:The biodegradation of PAHs and alkanes was investigated using a mixed thermophilic culture consisting of Bacillus spp. and Thermus sp. Uptake mechanisms were studied using PAH mixtures dissolved in degradable and nondegradable alkanes. High PAH degradation rates were achieved at temperatures ranging 60 70 degree C. An efficient PAH biodegradation was achieved, however, only in the presence of a degradable liquid phase in the simulated contamination.
