Zusammenfassung: | Raw bagasse generated in sugar mills and flyash from boilers were tested as low-cost adsorbents for the removal of chromium and nickel from aqueous solution. Adsorption kinetics and extent of adsorption at equilibrium were dependent on physicochemical properties of the adsorbent, adsorbate, and experimental system. The efficiencies of adsorbent materials for the removal of Cr(VI) and Ni(II) were in the 56.2-96.2% and 83.6-100% ranges, respectively. Bagasse demonstrated a greater affinity for Cr sorption while flyash had a greater affinity for Ni sorption. |
