Zusammenfassung:Various measurement methods being used for the continuous monitoring of air environment have totally transformed the quality and accuracy of database preferred today. This paper briefly reviews the instrumental and sensor developments for criteria pollutants and describes the indigenous efforts made by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), for the continuous monitoring of SO 2, NO x, CO, O 3 and H 2S and the air quality data processor (AQDP) needed to process the data in real time. The results from the field surveys compare well with the commercial units in operation and have greatly benefited in understanding the temporal trends in concentration and their source profiles.
