Lipase-catalyzed Esterification of Fatty Acids in Nonionic Microemulsions

In this work, we present preliminary results concerning the use of microemulsions, stabilized by tetraethylene glycol dodecyl ether (C sub(12)EO sub(4)), a well-defined nonionic amphiphile, for the esterification of an aliphatic alcohol, hexanol, with fatty acids of different chain length. The synth...

Zusammenfassung:In this work, we present preliminary results concerning the use of microemulsions, stabilized by tetraethylene glycol dodecyl ether (C sub(12)EO sub(4)), a well-defined nonionic amphiphile, for the esterification of an aliphatic alcohol, hexanol, with fatty acids of different chain length. The synthesis was catalyzed by Rhizopus delemar) lipase. Reaction was carried out in a system consisting of C sub(12)EO sub(4)-decane-hexanol-fatty acid-lipase and was followed by TLC and GC.
