Zusammenfassung: | Breast milk samples were obtained from mothers living in the Kariba Valley, Zimbabwe, and the levels of DDT and it metabolites were determined. Compared to average national levels, the milk samples analyzed showed a three-, seven-, and four-fold increase in the concentrations of p,p'-DDE, p,p'-DDT and total DDT, respectively. The estimated daily DDT intake for the Kariba region was calculated at 114.94 mu g/kg body weight, which was significantly higher than the regulated level of 5.0 mu g/kg. |
