Zusammenfassung:	Some microorganisms are able to accumulate and to metabolize the pesticide lindane (gamma-hexachlorocyclohexane, gamma-HCH) and other HCH-isomers. Microbial activities, detected metabolites, transformation rates, concentrating factors are reviewed. The results are discussed in respect to use microbiological processes for purification of contaminated water and soil and for recycling of waste HCH-isomers.
