Inventories and distribution of French freshwater fishes

The body in charge of managing fish populations and rivers in France has been working since 1990, in collaboration with the main research organisations working in this field in order to establish the geographic distribution of the fish species currently living in France so as to understand their evolution during the last decades and develop management programs. The fish data collected have been standardized and treated by computer in the data base named Fauna Flora in the Museum national d'Histoire naturelle (Service du Patrimoine naturel) in Paris.
