The use of single column ion chromatography to measure ion concentrations in invertebrate body fluids

1. 1. Single column ion chromatography was used as a method for determination of the concentrations of the major ions in invertebrate body fluids. 2. 2. This method allows the precise measurement of ion concentrations (to the low μmol/1 range) in very small (5–10μl) fluid samples. 3. 3. Ions not pre...

Zusammenfassung:1. 1. Single column ion chromatography was used as a method for determination of the concentrations of the major ions in invertebrate body fluids. 2. 2. This method allows the precise measurement of ion concentrations (to the low μmol/1 range) in very small (5–10μl) fluid samples. 3. 3. Ions not previously known to be present in a sample may be detected while analyzing for known ions. 4. 4. The resulting data can be used in physiological studies requiring the preparation of physiological saline solutions having the same ion concentrations as the fluid which was analyzed.
