Zusammenfassung:	Experimental ecosystems were used to study the effect of salmon food and feces on the plankton ecology of the water column. The main effects observed were that oxygen was reduced in the two treated tanks and this probably accounted for the elimination of zooplankton in these tanks. Primary producers were unaffected by the treatments while bacteria were greatly enhanced. Towards the end of the experiment a small bloom of Oxyrrhis marina occurred in the two treated tanks.
