Volatilization and redistribution of propoxur from a formulation used for control of the German cockroach

Volatilization and redistribution of a commercial propoxur formulation used to control the German cockroach was studied, using an air scrubbing system connected to a dispersal test apparatus. Volatilization and condensation with and without air scrubbing was examined. In most cases, the insecticide was redistributed onto previously uncontaminated surfaces, although the amounts were very low. The propoxur air concentration recovered from a treated dish was 146 picogram/ml after 30 min, which declined to 20 picogram/ml after 120 min.
