Zusammenfassung:Recently, we reported that expression of the cDNA for the beta subunit of human casein kinase II (CK II- beta ) confers partial UV resistance on xeroderma pigmentosum (XP) cells derived from patients belonging to groups D and C. Because we were unable to find a functional mutation in the CK II- beta gene of XP-D or XP-C patients (but only DNA polymorphisms), the CK II- beta gene is probably not defective in either the former or the latter XP genetic group. We now report the chromosomal localization and regional mapping of the human gene for CK II- beta (CSNK2B).
