Zusammenfassung: | Aerosol particle concentrations during pre-shamal and shamal conditions in the Arabian Gulf, and during calm winter conditions in the Gulf of Oman, were measured aboard the US Navy SHAREM 110-1 exercise in Feb. 1995. The total condensation nuclei concentrations were measured aboard the US Navy guided missile cruiser USS Lake Erie using an Environment One condensation nuclei counter. The aerosol data were supplemented by wind, temperature, and humidity measurements taken at the bow of the ship. The resulting concentrations were used to calculate optical visibility which is important in controlling the extinction of signals in the visible, as well as the near infrared and mid infrared wavelength regions. |
