Identification of a major human urinary metabolite of alachlor by LC-MS/MS

Alachlor mercapturate is a major human metabolite of alachlor. Its presence in urine has been measured. Comparison has also been carried out with the levels of the metabolite to levels of DEA, the hydrolysis product of alachlor metabolites, in urine samples from people exposed to alachlor. Basing from the results, it is believed that exposure assessment is best accomplished by biological monitoring of human specimens. Biological monitoring can provide a better understanding of exposure and can help devise methods to evaluate effectiveness of intervention.
