Zusammenfassung:Breast-milk samples were collected from mothers living in Kampala city, Uganda, and in a rural area and analyzed for concentrations of organochlorine pesticides. In all 143 samples, p,p'-DDT and -DDE were detected, along with residues of dieldrin, o,p'-DDT, beta -hexachlorocyclohexane, p,p'-DDD, and lindane. The median level of total DDT was 2.54 mg/kg milk fat, with an overall estimated daily intake of 14.74 mu g/kg body weight. No quantifiable levels of PCBs and hexachlorobenzene were found. All concentration data are tabulated.
