Sexual behavior and the enlarged hind legs of male Megalopus armatus (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae, Megalopodinae)

Behavioral observations indicate the giant hind legs of male Magalopus armatus beetles function as weapons in battles between males over sites where feeding and mating occur; they are not used to court females. Males court females actively during copulation.
