Cervical gangliectomy does not affect in vitro trytophan hydroxylase activity in rat brain base arteries
The presence of a serotonergic innervation in rat cerebral arteries of peripheral origin was explored. Superior cervical ganglia removal did not change tryptophan hydroxylase activity measured in cell-free extracts of brain base vessels. A low enzyme activity was detected in the ganglia. These resul...

Zusammenfassung: | The presence of a serotonergic innervation in rat cerebral arteries of peripheral origin was explored. Superior cervical ganglia removal did not change tryptophan hydroxylase activity measured in cell-free extracts of brain base vessels. A low enzyme activity was detected in the ganglia. These results suggest that rat cerebral arteries do not receive a serotonergic innervation from the superior cervical ganglia. |
