Zusammenfassung:Feral goats (Capra hircus) on the tropical atoll of Aldabra, Republic of Seychelles, were observed drinking seawater at the end of extended dry periods when no fresh water was available. These observations represent the first documentation of voluntary consumption of seawater by an ungulate under natural field conditions. The kidneys of the goats showed no unusual gross morphology In addition to consuming seawater, the goats produced relatively dry feces and fed on plants with relatively high water content.
