Accumulation of chlordanes in adipose tissues of mice caused by long-term exposure of low level technical chlordane

Eight-week-old mice were exposed to technical chlordane in an exposure chamber for 1 6 months, and chlordane levels in adipose tissue were measured. The mean exposure level ranged 4.22 11.36 mu g/m super(3). Results showed that 4.19 10.63 ppm of chlordane were presence in adipose tissue. trans-Nonac...

Zusammenfassung:Eight-week-old mice were exposed to technical chlordane in an exposure chamber for 1 6 months, and chlordane levels in adipose tissue were measured. The mean exposure level ranged 4.22 11.36 mu g/m super(3). Results showed that 4.19 10.63 ppm of chlordane were presence in adipose tissue. trans-Nonachlor was present at 2.09 4.79 ppm, while oxychlordane and heptachlorepoxide were detected at levels ranging 0.86 3.04 and 0.75 2.49 ppm, respectively. trans-Nonachlor was found at a very high level compared to its level in air, whereas trans-chlordane, which was present at high levels in air, was not detected in adipose tissue. A dose effect relationship was found only for trans-nonachlor, oxychlordane, and heptachlorepoxide.
