Anti-inflammatory compounds of Eugenia jambos
We have previously reported the in vivo anti-inflammatory activity of a crude methanol extract of the leaves of Eugenia jambos L. The current work reports the anti-inflammatory activity of two flavonoid glycosides (myricetin and quercetin 3-O- beta -D-xilopyranosyl (1-2) alpha -L-rhamnopyranosides)...

Zusammenfassung: | We have previously reported the in vivo anti-inflammatory activity of a crude methanol extract of the leaves of Eugenia jambos L. The current work reports the anti-inflammatory activity of two flavonoid glycosides (myricetin and quercetin 3-O- beta -D-xilopyranosyl (1-2) alpha -L-rhamnopyranosides) isolated from the crude methanol extract using the Mizushima-Sugishita model of acute inflammation modified by us. The two compounds were more effective than phenylbutazone and indomethacin used as controls. The flavonoid glycosides clearly showed more than 60% inhibition at the highest dose (10 mg/kg). |
