Zusammenfassung: | The design and development of a new laser-induced fluorescence-based method for predicting mixing zone characteristics, especially in wastewater discharges, is described. The method could be used to measure and demonstrate the efficiency of mixing in scale-model studies of specific cases and for studying mixing zone behaviour in field studies. Results of laboratory studies using a combination of laser-induced fluorescence and digital image processing are discussed. Field studies using fluorescent particle tracers and light-weight, low-cost optical fibre probes are described. |
