Zusammenfassung: | A study was undertaken by the King County Solid Waste Division and E&A Environmental Consultants Inc., with partial funding from the Washington Dept. of Ecology, to assess the technical and economic feasibility of on-site commercial food residuals composting. The Echo Glen Children's Center in Snoqualmie, Washington was found to be the most viable location for implementing an on-site composting pilot project. An important component of the pilot was to determine composting program costs. To continue, the program's per ton costs needed to be comparable to current landfill disposal costs. Overall, the analysis indicates that with some modifications, composting can be conducted at Echo Glen at no cost. |
