Zusammenfassung:Impulse atomization process (IAP) offers a number of advantages over other methods of rapid solidification for scrap processing. As-solidified properties of an AIP powder depend upon the meeting the cooling requirements of each droplet. This is influenced by superheat, particle size, final quench medium, and atmospheric composition. Experimental evidence suggest that the undercooling experienced by AIP droplets results in significantly refined powder microstructures. The effect is dependent upon parameters related to atmosphere, physical properties of the atomized material, and the nozzle itself. The advantages of the AIP are realizable with alloy other than Al 6061.
