Zusammenfassung: | Acanthoscelides puellus (Sharp) is commonly encountered in seeds of Calopogonium mucunoides in Mexico and Central America. During recent attempts to procure larval Bruchidae, numerous adults were reared from seeds of the "gray nickernut" (Caesalpinia crista ). This is the first time a bruchid has been reared from the seeds of this host plant and, according to C.D. Johnson (pers. comm.), represents a very unusual association. Because this association has not been previously reported and since there are ongoing efforts to determine bruchid-host affiliations this record is reported.
