Identification and synthesis of insect pheromone. XXVIII. Sex pheromone of poplar pole clearwing moth, Sphecia siningensis Hsu

(Z,Z)-3,13-Octadecadien-1-ol 1a is identified as the sex pheromone from the poplar pole clearwing moth, Sphecia siningensis Hsu, by GC-MS analysis, synthesis, EAG, and field bioassay. Species isolation among Sesiidae by pheromone is also discussed.
