Zusammenfassung:	Human infections caused by ascomycetous yeasts are extremely rare. Infections caused by yeasts of the genus Hansenula have uniformly occurred in the setting of the immunocompromised host. Two species, Hansenula anomala and Hansenula polymorpha , have been implicated. Fungemia, endocarditis, and ventriculitis have been described. The authors report a patient with chronic lymphocytic leukemia who developed a refractory urinary tract infection, with prostatitis, caused by Hansenula fabianii .
