Zusammenfassung:ABSTRACT We experimentally investigate the reflection and transmission of microwaves through grating structures comprised of sinusoidal corrugations. The gratings were fabricated onto dielectric (FR4) circuit board substrates and etched into both sides of the surrounding copper media, where each side is out of phase by 180°. We considered a variety of grating profiles, where each sine wave in a series had the same amplitude but differing frequency. The microwave response of the fabricated gratings was experimentally measured and numerical simulations were conducted and compared to those collected from the fabricated samples. The measured results suggest that such structures can be used potentially as broadband absorbers and polarization filters. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 56:1982–1984, 2014
