Chemotaxonomic considerations in relation to sponges of the genera Reniera and Haliclona

Sixteen sterols were identified from the marine sponges Reniera macropora and Haliclona aglutinatta. The last showed six Δ 5 and two Δ 0 sterols and one Δ 7 sterol with cholest-5-en-3β-ol being the principal compound. R. macropora contained eight Δ 5 and four Δ 0 sterols and one Δ 7 sterol. Some che...

The last showed six Δ 5 and two Δ 0 sterols and one Δ 7 sterol with cholest-5-en-3β-ol being the principal compound. R. macropora contained eight Δ 5 and four Δ 0 sterols and one Δ 7 sterol. Some chemotaxonomic considerations about both genera are discussed.
