Effect of heat on nutrient release from soil under tropical dry deciduous forest [India]

The present paper deals with the effects of heating on upper layer of forest soil from a tropical dry deciduous forest stand dominated by teak (Tectoma grandis Linn. f.) at Gopalpura reserve forest (23 degree 31'N latitude and 79 degree 3'E longitude, ca. 522 m.s.l.) in Central India. The...

Zusammenfassung:The present paper deals with the effects of heating on upper layer of forest soil from a tropical dry deciduous forest stand dominated by teak (Tectoma grandis Linn. f.) at Gopalpura reserve forest (23 degree 31'N latitude and 79 degree 3'E longitude, ca. 522 m.s.l.) in Central India. The climate of the study site can broadly be classified into three seasons i.e. rainy, winter and summer. Mean annual temperature is 25.16 degree C and total annual rainfall is 1234 mm. Dry season ranges from 6 to 7 months in a year. Effect on pH, exchangeable cations i.e. K, Ca and Na available phosphorus, total nitrogen and organic matter after heating are explained and discussed.
