Zusammenfassung: | In laboratory olfactometer tests conducted in a dark room, male and female D. abbreviatus (L.) (Curculionidae: Coleoptera) were shown to be significantly attracted to the frass of the opposite sex, though some response to the same sex was obtained. Response was also obtained from males and females to volatiles of tender, succulent citrus foliage. Electroantennagram studies of extracts of frass and foliage indicated that the adult weevils were stimulated by these materials. In field tests, traps baited with a combination of males and females were significantly more attractive than were traps baited with males or females only, or unbaited traps. |
