Zusammenfassung:The present paper describes the optimization process of managing energy consumption in an office building. Pakistan has been in a state of severe energy crisis since 2006-2007. According to a survey, more than 50% of energy in Pakistan is used in buildings. From amongst the buildings, a major portion is utilized in office buildings. A case study is carried out of an office building in which major energy consumption parameters are identified using a software based on CLTD/CLF (cooling load temperature difference/cooling load factor) method. These parameters are then optimized according to the building requirements. According to calculations done, there is a potential of conserving 33.25% of energy after optimization. It is expected that energy demands in Pakistan will be increased by 8% annually [1]. To meet the large gap between demand and supply of energy it is recommended that buildings should be optimized on a large scale. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
