Zusammenfassung: | As chlorine decay is influenced by many factors, such as water quality, piping material, initial concentration of chlorine, chlorine decay in real water distribution system is difficultly simulated. In this paper, the experiments were carried out to investigate the kinetic model of chlorine decay, and the formation of trihalomethanes (THMs) in a pilot-scale water distribution system. The kinetic model of chlorine decay and the formation model of THMs fitted experiment data of pilot-scale water distribution system very well. In addition, the effects of different bromide ions including pH and flow velocity on chlorine decay and THMs formation were investigated. The results demonstrated that there is little effect on chlorine decay and THMs formation in the range of pH 6-8 and flow velocity of 0.2-1 m/s. The concentration of bromide ions has great effect on the formation of THMs. |
