Anaphylaxis after vaccination of children: Review of literature and recommendations for vaccination in child and school health services in Belgium

Highlights • We developed a guideline on prevention of anaphylaxis after vaccination of children. • Vaccinations in preventive health care settings should be preceded by a structured risk assessment. • Vaccinators are CPR trained and have access to an emergency kit with adrenaline. • Adrenaline (in a 1:1000 solution) is the cornerstone of treatment of anaphylaxis. • Differential diagnosis between anaphylaxis and syncope is important.
