Plasticity of geographical imagery: the western city in musical sequences of Hindi films

ABSTRACT IN FRENCH: Cet article prend place dans la réflexion transdisciplinaire sur les flux culturels, la déterritorialisation et l'identitaire. Dans le prolongement des travaux d'Appadurai sur les flux culturels globaux, les identités, l'imagination comme pratique sociale et la déterritorialisation, nous suggérons que les délocalisations des tournages indiens en Occident concourent aux processus plastiques qui travaillent l'objet esthétique et entrent dans un renouvellement des flux à l'échelle géopolitique. Ce processus plastique propose une recréation géographique et s'inscrit dans une perspective postmoderniste du cinéma. // ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH: This article aims to contribute to the discussion about globalization and cultural studies. In the continuation of Appadurai's works on global cultural processes, identity, social imagery and deterritorialization, we suggest that when Indian film makers travel to shoot in Western locations it is the aesthetic expression of plasticity at the crossroads of aesthetics and geopolitics. This process creates a new geography and falls into a postmodernist perspective of cinema.
