Zusammenfassung: | Nicotine, the major, unique component of the gas phase of environmental tobacco smoke (ETS), has been employed as a marker for estimating exposure to ETS. A personal monitoring system for the determination of exposure to nicotine has been developed. The system consists of a sampling cartridge packed with 200 mg of Tenax GC and a small, constant-flow, personal sampling pump. After sampling, the cartridges are analyzed by triethylamine-assisted thermal desorption gas chromatography with nitrogen-selective detection. Collection and desorption efficiencies for the cartridges have been determined. |
