Zusammenfassung: | By comparing intakes of PCDDs and PCDFs by infants through breast-milk with (a) doses associated with human diseases; (b) dose-response relationship in animal experiments; and (c) total lifetime intake due to “background” exposure, it can be concluded that present levels of these chemicals do not present a health risk to infants and children. There is therefore no justification for limiting breastfeeding, but there is a need for primary prevention of human exposure. |
