Zusammenfassung:Chemical degradation and spectral studies on toromycin, an antibiotic isolated from Streptomyces collinus subsp. albescens, showed that toromycin is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon having a C-glycosyl group at C-4, a vinyl group at C-8, two methoxyl groups at C-10 and C-12, and a phenolic hydroxyl group at C-1 of 6-oxo-6H-benzo [d] naphtho-[1, 2-b] pyran (1).
