Zusammenfassung:	Highlights • Rapid AED withdrawal is safe and efficacious. • The overall complication rate was low at 5.06% and most complications were minor in nature. • In a cohort of 158 patients the combination of rapid AED withdrawal and sleep deprivation during VEM provided a diagnosis in 90.5% of cases. • This strategy is suitable for assessing candidacy for epilepsy surgery and does not impair long-term surgery outcomes.
