Zusammenfassung: | Widespread use of DDT in India has resulted in significant bioaccumulation of the pesticide in human adipose tissue and blood. DDT levels in human milk from the Delhi area are reported. Human milk samples were found to contain an average of 0.176 ppm, 0.046 ppm, and 0.122 ppm of pp'DDE, op'DDT and pp'DDT, respectively. These values are considerably lower than those reported from the Punjab area. Though these values are higher that acceptable daily intake of DDT, no harmfull effects have been reported. |
