Zusammenfassung: | Three types of tests have been used to confirm the presence of antibody to HIV identified by the ELISA screening assay: (1) Western blot, (2) radioimmunoprecipitation (RIP), and (3) immunofluorescence. This paper discusses the technical differences in these three assays, factors affecting their relative sensitivity and specificity, and their interpretation. A table shows major features of each assay. In light of their collective experience, alternative approaches are discussed. |
