Zusammenfassung: | A series of Sm3+ and Dy3+ ions activated Ba3Y2WO9 (BaYW) ceramics were synthesized by using a conventional solid state reaction method. Photoluminescence spectra of Sm3+ and Dy3+: BaYW ceramics have shown strong reddish-orange (596nm) and blue (494nm) emission. The tetragonal phase structure has been assigned to the prepared ceramics by the measurement of X-ray diffraction (XRD) profiles. Agglomeration and the nanometer particle size (130nm to 220nm) were observed from the SEM images of the ceramics. The functional groups like OH, CO3, WO bonds, YO bonds and the elements such as Ba, Y, W, O, Sm and Dy present in the prepared ceramics were identified by measuring the FTIR and EDAX spectra. In this contribution, we have reported the emission properties of Sm3+ and Dy3+: BaYW ceramics to explore them as novel optical materials and also reported the effect of Sm3+ and Dy3+ concentration on the luminescence behavior. Decay kinetics of the prominent emission transitions of Sm3+ and Dy3+: BaYW ceramics are also discussed.
► Sm3+ and Dy3+: BaYW ceramics were prepared by solid state reaction method. ► Sm3+: BaYW ceramics have shown an intense reddish-orange color emission. ► Dy3+: BaYW ceramics have shown an intense blue color emission. ► The nature of the transitions observed in the emission spectra is explained. ► Phenomenon of concentration quenching has been clearly discussed. |
