Tide-influenced sedimentary environments and facies

The impetus of new advances and interpretations was maintained at the 12th International Sedimentological Congress, where eleven papers were presented at a symposium on Clastic Tidal Deposits. Four papers deal with aspects of modern sediment entrainment and sedimentation in tide-influenced estuarine environments. Pjerup, and Sternberg, provide contrasting examples of the level of technological innovation that may be applied in investigations of sediment entrainment in tidal flows. Hacker provides a detailed case study of the interaction of fluvial and tidal processes in a tropical estuary. Harris discusses broader aspects of sedimentation in tide-dominant estuaries, using examples from several areas of the world.
