Zusammenfassung: | Pediatric AIDS is frequently associated with opportunistic infection of the central nervous system, vacuolar myelopathy, and a subacute encephalopathy. In the latter condition, nucleic acid of HIV has been identified in the brain. The authors now report the detection of HIV p24 antigen (p24Ag) in the cerebral cortex and white matter of children with AIDS-related subacute encephalitis. The cells containing p24Ag did not react with monoclonal antibodies (mAb) directed against OKT4 or macrophage markers. |
