Zusammenfassung: | Southern California Edison operates the world's largest battery energy storage system at its Chino, CA, 220 kv substation. Stored energy from the 10 Mw/40 Mwh battery facility is fed into the distribution feeder, a scheme that reduces the demand on the 66 kv/12 kv transformer. The battery energy storage system, the power conditioning system, and the facility monitoring and control system are described. Initial operating performance is considered satisfactory, and the costs, benefits, and performance of the facility will be demonstrated and quantified during a two-year test period. |
