Zusammenfassung: | Highlights ► We investigated walking gait in healthy young adults who were normal weight, overweight and obese. ► Overweight and obese young adults were able to maintain similar knee biomechanics to normal weight young adults. ► In all weight groups there were gait changes when comparing preferred walking velocity to a slow walk at 1 m/s. ► Obese young adults walked at a slower preferred walking velocity. ► The slower velocity in the obese may have been to maintain a magnitude of normalized knee joint loading comparable to normal weight young adults. |
