Zusammenfassung: | Highlights ► We sought to determine how multidirectional gait initiation kinematics are affected by aging and Parkinson's disease. ► In general, Parkinson's disease patients were slower than healthy older adults, who were slower than young adults. ► Compared to healthy older adults, Parkinson's disease patients also showed turning-related deficits while initiating gait. ► For healthy older adults, their general slowness of movement could be attributed to aging effects. ► For Parkinson's disease patients, rigidity and bradykinesia could impair activities of daily living like gait initiation. |
